How does a hydraulic clutch work?
Primary gear mechanism
The clutch works using a gear shift stick or lever. When the clutch pedal is pressed the flywheel moves, and the pressure plate disengages, the clutch disk thus stopping the drive shaft from moving. At this point, the plate releases engaging the next gear selected on the gear shift.
The Hydraulic clutch system
The hydraulic clutch system also follows the same principle as the mechanical clutch system. However, they differ in that the hydraulic system has fewer components compared to the mechanical clutch system. The hydraulic clutch system has a reservoir somewhere that contains transmission fluid when the clutch pedal is pressed the fluid is pressurized pushing the clutch plate and disengages the gear. And in turn engaging the next gear.

The most important thing on a hydraulic clutch system is always to ensure there is adequate transmission fluid in the system. In most of the modern cars, the hydraulic clutch system is set up as a closed system thus the fluid can last the entire life of the car without the need for change or refill.
